My Story

Aria Del Mistro was born an angel on Monday 3rd September, at 1.57am. She was tiny at 1.7kg but perfectly formed, with the cutest button nose and a full head of hair. We miss her beautiful little face so much.

Unfortunately she passed away before the birth following a diagnosis showing that she had Edwards Syndrome/ Trisomy 18 at 36 weeks. Edward's Syndrome is a fairly rare congenital issue, and in the prenatal screening we were told that Aria was low risk factor of 1 in 10,000. Many babies die in utero, and for those who do survive the labor,  the life expectancy is very short, sometimes living mere hours, days or weeks. The 5% of babies  who survive beyond a year often face a life with severe physical and mental disabilities.

Each year 35,000 parents are told their unborn baby may have an abnormality. ARC provides information about antenatal testing and supports parents and their families when an abnormality is discovered in their much wanted baby. ARC is a lifeline for expectant and bereaved parents.

We would like to raise money for Arc who were able to offer us support throughout, and to help them continue to do the fantastic work in helping parents in similar situations.
